Woodborough luxury home

Located in the Nottinghamshire green belt on the edge of Woodborough Village, this project, designed by John Morris Architects involved the remodelling, refurbishment and extension of an existing house and attached outbuildings.

Our clients wanted reliable and simple entertainment, lighting and security systems, which would blend in sympathetically with their stylish modern decor.

"I'd like to thank Fade for the great job they did on our house. The property is large but we have fast and reliable wifi throughout, and our TVs and music systems are beautifully installed and have worked brilliantly from day 1. We are away a lot, so it's great to be able to view the cameras and operate the gate from our iPhones. Fade were very professional in their approach and easy to work with. They produced Autocad plans showing clearly where all the speakers, TVs and other devices would be located, and kept us informed of what they were doing and why they were doing it. They were also very patient when it took BT 9 months to install our phone line! Thanks very much." Mark R.

What's special about this project:-

  • The 2N video gate entry system, allows the homeowners to speak to visitors and operate the gate, from their iPhones and iPad wherever they happen to be in the world.

  • At the homeowners request and to blend in with the beautiful cedar cladding on the front of the house, we used a high quality stainless steel alarm box to finish off the rock solid DSC Power Series intruder alarm. Of course, the homeowners can set or disarm the alarm and receive notification of break-ins on their smart phones.

  • Televisions are installed together with Sonos soundbars, greatly improving the sound and also providing music listening capability in those room. In the games room and back garden, Sonos Amps drive Monitor Audio C280 in-ceiling speakers and Vecta 240 external speakers.

  • The lower lounge has been set-up as a media room for big screen movie and sports viewing. We have installed a 65inch Samsung QLED TV, together with Sony AV Receiver, Monitor Audio SB3 sound bar, Radius 390 subwoofer and Soundframe 1 speakers at the rear.

  • CCTV cameras installed on all sides of the property can be viewed on smart phones from anywhere in the world

  • A Rako system simplifies control of complex lighting in the kitchen and external areas. Motion sensor are spread around the entire perimeter of the building automatically triggering lights when it's dark; these can be disabled when the homeowners want to select a pre-defined lighting scene, for example, when they have friends over for a barbeque. We used a wired Rako system, meaning that there is no maintenance required or batteries to change, however, after moving into the finished property, the owners decided to connect 2 more lights to the Rako system; this was achieved easily using Rako wireless dimming controllers, without the need for running new cables or redecoration.

  • We wall-mounted an iPad in the kitchen using an iPort Surface Mount. This iPad provides a central control point for all the Home Technology; CCTV cameras, intruder alarm, music, lighting, heating and gate entry system.

  • Fade planned and installed a comprehensive cabling infrastructure (data, loudspeakers, satellite, alarm) throughout the property. All cabling is hidden out of view and cleanly terminated in the plant room. Central equipment is housed in an IT rack.
